Effective with the October 12, 2010 Business Meeting, citizens will be able to view Tigard City Council meetings live online. This provides another tool for citizens to stay informed about the council’s business. Anyone with a computer and internet access will be able to access this service.
City Council meetings are currently shown over cable television. Business meetings are aired live and workshop meetings are taped to air later. Viewers must be cable subscribers to watch meetings on cable. That service will continue. The live streaming service provides an option for citizens interested in viewing the council meetings that don’t subscribe to cable.
Videos for all past 2010 council meetings are already available online.
To offer the live streaming service, the city spent $560 on software.
